Dependence of cationic dyes’ adsorption upon α-MoO3 structural properties

Orthorhombic molybdenum oxide (α-MoO3) samples were prepared via calcination. During this process, the ratio of (0 4 0)/(1 1 0) or 0)/(0 2 1) crystallographic planes was fine-tuned by applying different calcination temperatures. Textural characterization carried out to comprehend their differences in photocatalytic and adsorption applications. Except for methyl orange, all tested dyes (methylene blue, crystal violet, malachite green, rhodamine B) presented affinity towards α-MoO3. It revealed that presence α-MoO3 significantly decreased performance TiO2 under UV light irradiation. With growth facet α-MoO3, activity increased while cationic dyes. found solubility depends on proportional facet, which determines both behaviors oxide. The is reflected decreasing rate solution pH, hence can be measured accurately, but it varies according dye structure. Using assess requires meticulous investigations since mistaken with activity: adsorptive adsorbent structures.
